RKM Insights is the independent research and analysis platform of Robert K. Miller, bringing together work on public policy, economics, investing, strategy and other subjects where careful examination can reveal something that conventional explanations overlook.
Rethinking Known Models reflects an approach grounded in curiosity, evidence and a willingness to challenge assumptions, including one's own. Rather than accepting established explanations at face value, the emphasis is on understanding how things actually work, testing competing interpretations and identifying what the evidence supports.
The work ranges from public policy research and technical investigations to quantitative modelling, financial strategy and decision analysis. A particular interest is finding ways to bring greater clarity to factors that are difficult to measure, such as personal preferences, quality of life, uncertainty and competing priorities. Creative triangulation draws on estimates, comparisons and different analytical approaches to make these factors more tangible, without pretending that everything important can be reduced to a number.
RKM Insights serves as both a portfolio of selected analytical work and a home for independent research, observations and occasional commentary.
